Get your life back and finally heal from your eating disorder

Recovery coaching

As someone who has healed from both anorexia and orthorexia, I know personally how all-consuming an eating disorder can be. I know how scary it is to even consider recovery, let alone engage in the process.

I always tell my recovery coaching clients: you’ll never meet someone tougher than an ED survivor. Recovery gives you a resilience and grit that few other life experiences can give you. Anyone in ED recovery is a courageous and tenacious soul.

Through recovery coaching, my clients are able to stop engaging in ED behaviors within three months. Within six months of coaching, we will have dived deep into the roots of how the disorder emerged and begun untangling those roots from the source. In a year of working together, my clients achieve consistent and sustainable recovery.

I’ve helped clients heal from anorexia, including the binge-purge subtype, bulimia, binge eating disorder, orthorexia, and ARFID.

My Method:

I help my clients recover through a therapeutic approach of gentle inquiry, curiosity, compassion, and an overall environment of safety and trust.

My clients don’t lie, hide, or keep secrets from me. Recovery is best achieved in a non-judgemental environment. I demand nothing from my clients except a willingness to recover. You won’t find meal plans or rigidity in my coaching like you may have experienced in other recovery environments. I will help you gradually increase your daily food intake in a way that feels controlled, safe, and still challenging to your ED brain. What you won’t find? Weigh-ins, obsessive tracking of your weight (in fact—the opposite! I encourage my clients to stop weighing themselves.), bland and unexciting food suggestions, harshness, strict adherence to rules, unrealistic expectations of how fast you’ll recover, or any other militant aspect of recovery work. And most importantly—you won’t find a shred of anti-fat bias in working with me.

What will you find? Empathy. Understanding. Guidance. Support. Love. A HAES approach that recognizes all forms of eating disorders can occur in all body sizes.

I offer recipe ideas and help fill nutritional gaps. I cheer you on when you challenge a fear food. I make sure you’re eating. I help you untangle those fears of weight gain and body changes. I help you see the bigger picture. I help you understand yourself and your behaviours. I will help you find any outside help that we determine you need (such as a therapist, physical therapist, physician, etc). I will walk by your side as you walk the path of recovery. If will hold your hand as you take every single brave step.

How will I recover?

  • I will teach you how to eat intuitively—this is the foundation and cornerstone of my recovery coaching practice

  • I will support you as you stop weighing yourself and engaging in other body-checking behaviors

  • I will help you work through food fears and find ways to enjoy eating

  • I will make sure you are able to come to me if you’re ever in distress—my recovery coaching clients are given “911” access to me in case of crisis or emergency (for example, if they are fighting the urge to purge after a binge)

  • Body image and body acceptance work occur throughout your recovery journey so that you can establish unconditional self-love

  • My coaching includes Monday-Friday (with emergency availability on Saturday-Sunday) messaging support through an app called Voxer. Through the app, my clients are able to send text and voice messages back and forth with me so they continue to be supported between our sessions.

  • I am especially skilled at reflection work, inner child healing, understanding the influences from how your were raised (family, school, community, culture, religion, etc), helping you notice patterns, holding space for emotions, and guiding you to a better understanding of when/how your ED voice emerges. Through this, you will be able to quiet and eventually silence that voice.

  • I will make sure to invoke humor and silliness whenever appropriate so that we can inject a bit of fun into the recovery process! I am lucky to call many of my past clients friends. We grow quite close through this process, and you’ll have a piece of my heart for the rest of my life.
