You’re relaxing at home in the middle of the weekend. Maybe you’re even perusing our lovely Sunflower Health Coaching blog for a few soothing self-care tips. When suddenly it hits you: tomorrow is Sunday! Cue the horror movie music and maybe even your anxiety.

Seriously though, the Sunday Scaries are no joke, and they are 100% a common feeling. Whether you’re stressed about work, school or just life in general, starting a new week can be downright overwhelming. That is, unless you have a few tried and true tips for taking the fright out of the end of your weekend and reclaiming your calm. So here are a few tips to keep in mind to make the most of your weekend and your week!

Treat Yourself to Sunday Self-Care

Friday and Saturday get all of the love, but what if you tackled your to-do list earlier in the weekend and saved Sundays for nothing but self-care?! This could be a total game-changer.

●      Wake up, put on your headphones and start Sunday with a calming meditation.

●      No headphones? Splurge one of the latest pairs to help tame Sunday Scaries.

●      Then, spend the day doing something relaxing. Maybe even take a weekly nature hike!

●      End the day on a positive self-care note by setting yourself up for a good night’s sleep.

Tame Your Weekly Worries With a Plan

Did that sound like a relaxing Sunday? It could be easy to implement. Of course, you’ll need to run your errands and tackle tasks ahead of time to save Sunday for self-care. Luckily this doesn’t have to be a hassle.

●      Is Sunday usually your grocery shopping day? Skip crowds and lines with delivery.

●      Make sure you have plenty of food for the next week, like smoothie ingredients.

●      Still have plenty of clothes for next week? It’s okay to skip laundry this weekend.

●      Prioritizing your tasks can also help alleviate the Sunday Scaries and save you time.

Get Support for Anxiety and Mental Health

Hopefully you can put the tips and links above to work and chase your Sunday worries away. But if Sunday, or any other day, feels downright overwhelming, it may be time for extra support.

●      Phone a friend or plan a weekend meetup. Time with friends can help with anxiety.

●      Don’t feel nervous about connecting with a counselor. This is a very healthy habit.

Sundays may feel scary now, but they don’t have to give you a fright! Or cause you undue stress. Try reframing Sundays as your day for ultimate self-care, and spread your to-do list out over Saturday, or even the week. Also, know that it’s okay and healthy to seek support from loved ones or even a professional.

Finally, if you want to take control of your well-being and your overall health, consider connecting with a holistic health coach, like Sara Vander Zwaag of Sunflower Health Coaching. Because taking care of your health can also make Sundays more enjoyable.
